Hackathome
The Hackathome marathon, promoted in 2022 by the Lisbon City Council and Startup Lisboa, aimed to respond to and help develop technological, innovative, and sustainable ideas for the challenge of reviving the city's vacant homes.
Fifteen teams were selected, composed of three to five members, with backgrounds in diverse fields and profiles in technology, management, engineering, or architecture. Their mission was to develop digital and sustainable solutions (socially, environmentally, and economically) that could be implemented in the city to adjust housing supply and demand.
The initiative called on young university students to respond to the challenge of over 48,000 vacant homes and awarded a total of 10,000 euros to the winning teams after a 24-hour hackathon dedicated to devising a technology-based solution that would eliminate bureaucratic processes and simplify the information process for those looking to buy or rent a home in Lisbon.
